Miles Davis Quintet Dimensions in Jazz San Francisco Vintage Concert Poster

Miles Davis, Jimmy Witherspoon & The Jazztet – Dimensions in Jazz Poster

This bold vintage Dimensions in Jazz concert poster advertises a remarkable evening of music at the San Francisco Civic Auditorium.

Headlining the event was the Miles Davis Quintet, billed prominently as “The One and Only.” The extensive supporting programme included The Jazztet featuring Benny Golson and Art Farmer, Jimmy Witherspoon, the Paul Horn Quintet, and Virgil Gonsalves and his band.

The concert was scheduled for Friday, March 4 at 8:30 p.m., with ticket outlets advertised throughout San Francisco, Oakland and Berkeley.

Graphically, the poster is a superb example of vintage concert-broadside design. Oversized black lettering is printed against an intense yellow field, accompanied by a simple trumpet illustration and the wonderfully period phrase “For Swinging Moderns.”

Carefully restored while preserving its naturally aged printed appearance, this is striking wall art for a jazz collection, listening room, record room, music studio, home bar or office.
