Queen 1979 Japanese Tour – Vintage Tokyo Concert Poster

A superb vintage Queen Japan Tour ’79 concert handbill, combining Japanese typography, distinctive late-1970s graphic design and a fantastic live photograph of Freddie Mercury.

The lower portion captures Freddie performing beneath warm red and orange stage lights, microphone in hand. Above the photograph, bold QUEEN – JAPAN TOUR ’79 lettering is paired with Japanese script and an unusual pink bicycle illustration against a black background.

The handbill advertises performances on April 13, 14, 23 and 24, with Nippon Budokan prominently listed and a 6:30 PM starting time. A list of Japanese cities—including Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Kobe, Kyoto, Fukuoka, Koriyama and Sapporo—reinforces the poster’s unmistakable tour character.

The design dates from Queen’s 1979 Japanese tour, during the period following the release of Jazz. The bicycle imagery is particularly appropriate to this era, immediately recalling the visual identity surrounding the band’s late-1970s work.

Japanese ticket information and promoter details occupy the upper section, while a wonderful period All Nippon Airways advertisement runs across the bottom, adding another layer of authentic Japanese commercial design.
