Nina Simone, Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane & Sonny Rollins Vintage Carnegie Hall Poster

Carnegie Hall New Year’s Eve Jazz – John Coltrane, Nina Simone, Sonny Rollins & Thelonious Monk

This remarkable vintage New Year’s Eve Jazz at Carnegie Hall concert poster advertises an extraordinary gathering of jazz talent in New York City.

The bill features Sonny Rollins & Co., the John Coltrane Quintet, Nina Simone, Thelonious Monk and his band, together with jazz humorist George Crater.

Designed as a traditional concert broadside, enormous black typography dominates a vivid yellow field, with JAZZ AT CARNEGIE HALL commanding the upper half of the composition. Its deliberately simple graphic treatment allowed the remarkable lineup itself to become the visual focus.

Period details add enormous character, including ticket prices ranging from $3.00 to $5.00, mail-order ticket information and the prominent announcement that “The Bar at Carnegie Hall will be Open.”

Carefully restored while retaining its authentic aged appearance, this is a superb piece of jazz history and striking wall art for a music room, record collection, listening room, home bar, studio or office.
