About Bola Sete
Bola Sete (1923–1987) was a highly influential Brazilian guitarist and composer recognized for his significant contributions to jazz and Latin music. Born Djalma de Andrade, he adopted the stage name “Bola Sete”, which means “Seven Ball” in Portuguese, derived from his fondness for billiards. Sete’s music seamlessly blended bossa nova, samba, and jazz, creating a unique and captivating fusion. His virtuosity on the guitar, characterized by intricate fingerstyle techniques and innovative improvisation, captivated audiences worldwide. Sete gained international recognition after moving to the United States in the early 1960s, where he collaborated with prominent jazz musicians and released acclaimed albums.
